Lead Consulting

Lead containing materials are regulated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for demolition activities and by the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA)Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) for salvage and disposal activities. The Housing and Urban Development (HUD) rule 24 CFR sect. 35.100 for Residential Lead-Based Poisoning Prevention also sets forth management of property containing lead-based paint.

Lead Investigation / Risk Assessment Services

ACT performs limited and comprehensive lead-in-paint investigations and risk assessments in which all painted surfaces observed throughout a building are documented and sampled for the presence of, or assumed to contain lead, depending on the clients needs. Soil samples and dust wipes are also collected for investigations being performed according to HUD guidelines. All investigators are State of Indiana Licensed Lead Inspectors and/or Risk Assessors.

Field Use of XRF Spectrum Analyzer (XRF)

During a lead investigation and risk assessment, samples are taken from painted surfaces in the structure via use of a NITON XRF Spectrum Analyzer (XRF) for instant readings of lead content.

Lead Abatement Specifications, Abatement Monitoring, and Operation & Maintenance Program Development

ACT understands the importance in properly documenting lead projects from the beginning to the end. ACT provides specifications to contractors detailing a clients needs for abatement, provides monitoring to document activities meeting all local, state, and federal regulations, and assists in developing O&M programs to keep the work environment safe and the employees aware of possible hazards. ACT performs a multitude of services to accommodate client’s needs; please inquire!

 Lead Laboratory Services

ACT Laboratory is currently applying for AIHA accreditation to meet HUD requirements for analysis; however, until the application is complete all samples are sent to nationally certified and accredited laboratories. The ACT laboratory is capable of analyzing lead dust wipes, paint chips, air, and water samples using Atomic Absorption Spectrometry.

Lead Training Programs

ACT provides a training program for Lead Awareness to assist companies in keeping their employees safe.
